Our Green Flag

It was with a great sense of excitement that Bellurgan National School eceived its first Green Flag on Friday 20th May 2011. A major effort was made during the past year to examine the impact of litter and waste on the environment. Practical plans to reduce litter andwaste at Bellurgan were implemented. The success of this initiative involved, consistent input by all pupils, staff and parents. An Taisce`s Green-School Evaluation Committee was extremely impressed by the submission presented by Bellurgan National School and had no hesitation in making their decision to award the school a Green Flag. The systems are now set up in the school to reduce Litter/ Waste and in addition, further work is currently ongoing in relation to the Green-Schools programme on the theme Energy.
